Moonly Review 🌑 Atlantic Waves
Where Michał hops aboard a pirate ship and sails from the Azores to the coast of the Basque Country.
Hello from Passaia.
It's a beautiful place to arrive, especially in a company of magnificent sailing fleet and aboard Grayhound - a beautiful replica of an 18th century lugger, built for tough waters of the English Channel. She's a beauty.
It feels strange to be on land again.
After crossing 1400 nautical miles, my body is atuned to the ship's flow of time, measured in 4-hour watches and the constant waves of emotions. Up and down, and up again. The rolling of the ship never stops, and it stirs something deep inside of me. Insights start coming up. Dreams turn clear and vivid. The state of full presence becomes constant.
It is exhausting, and profound, and mesmerising, and challenging, and beautiful, and incredibly humbling, to be a tiny spot in the vastness of the Ocean, navigating without GPS towards a distant coast.
And here I am.
Grayhound tought me numerous lessons about myself and the sailing life. In a space where the longest walk you can take is to the bow and back, and there is no escape from the people with whom you share responsibility for each others lives, the feeling resembles a pressure cooker.
It is fucking intense.
The highs feel incredible. Witnessing the all-night-long dance of a tribe of dolphins covered in fluorescent algae which sent me into a powerful trance and deep sleep from which I awoken with infinite creative energy. Channeling emotions into soul-touching music, releasing tears and laughter. Hosting my first card session at sea resulting in a spontaneous acroyoga with the most amazing force of nature human. Playing the clarinet. Nourishing conversations under the starlit sky...
After riding the crests of passing waves, lows inevitably follow. Feeling absolutely useless when unsure how to participate meaningfully in a maneuver again and again. Desperately craving uninterrupted sleep and self time. Facing the shadows of myself without any distractions...
It took me a few days on land to process this voyage and regain balance within myself. Somewhere in between the madness of my first maritime festival, walking in between alleys and forests of the Basque coast, I find pieces of myself that the Ocean brought up to the surface.
The piece of the artist that is ready to show up to the world with all the shiny light. The piece of a maker that is ready to switch back to DIY-ing stuff I carry with me. The piece of a Home Base, shared with people I love within a walking distance. The piece of Ocean Quests with epic crews. And more.
The wizard training continues. And so does the sail training.
In a few days we set sail towards Gloucester, across the infamous Bay of Biscay, watching the growing Moon guiding us towards another port. And just like before boarding on Grayhound for the first time, I'm excited and terrified - my favourite combination.
I'll see you on the other side 🌊
Love and Light
Michał
ps. On the New Moon I took myself out on a Wizard Walk, and pulled some cards for my next cycle. I got the Fool and another Tower, which feels perfectly fitting for another voyage of deep learning and reconstructing myself, with my deepest gratitude and most humble attitude.
You can find the photo of the complete squares from the previous Moon Cycle on my Patreon.
pps. I'm getting really excited for Nowhere. I've been planning the build of our Sheepy Ship and there are some funky designs in motion, including a climbing platform and dragon wing sails 🐉.
The long term plan is to build a camp of sailor burners to embark on Ocean Quests together. Pop by for a glass of Blue Lotus Kombucha on the Playa if you're around 𑁍
ppps. It's kinda funny how the time at sea put so much distance between my land life before the voyage. And it was such a beautiful cycle - hosting Enspiral Retreat. Meeting with my dear friends in Berlin and Lisbon. Quick check-in with my Homes in Traditional Dream Factory (which I wrote about on twitter) and Pico. What an amazing life indeed.
